I woke up at 6am today and didn’t snooze my alarm or go back to sleep, which is, in itself, an achievement. I turned on Radio 4 and listened to the news for half an hour or so whilst cuddling with Forest in bed. I then got up and went for a run, which felt fantastic in the crisp, fresh morning air, with the sun making everything feel better. I managed just under 3 miles without my knee hurting at all, which I was very happy with considering the issues I’ve been having with it recently. I then showered, had some cereal, and spent half an hour writing a blog, before heading off to get my haircut. After that, I had to jump on a quick teams call for half an hour for one of the charities I am a Trustee of, but once I was off the call, I nipped over to the chemist to pick up my prescription, before heading to Waitrose to pick up a few bits – 12 pints of skimmed milk, because I’m drinking a lot of protein shakes at the minute, and a baguette too, so I could have ham & chicken for lunch, which was exquisite. I then spent an hour reading through The Times on my iPad, before proceeding to take Forest for a walk around the block whilst listening to a podcast I had NotebookLM produce for me to revise for my upcoming CIPS exam. Back home, I wrote a reply to Dany’s most recent email, which took a good 20 minutes – his emails always give me so much food for thought, so I always try to put some real effort into my replies – and read a few chapters of the biography of James I I have been reading, before settling down to watch golf on TV for a bit. It was then time for tea, but I wasn’t super hungry, so I just had a sandwich, after which I lay on my bed for a while, letting the melancholy settle in. My mother is away this weekend, so I gave my Granddad a call to make sure he was ok, but he couldn’t get his television working, so I headed over to fix it for him. Whilst I was there, Elia texted me and asked if I fancied popping over for a brew, so once I’d fixed the television I crossed to the other side of Derby to visit her. We had a good catch up and watched Richard Osman’s House of Games together, which is about as intimate as I can get with another person. Her new beau, Joe, arrived just as I was leaving, so it was nice to see him – I think he’s a lovely chap.
