Pictures from Matlock

As I mentioned in a recent blog post, I have bought a new camera. Yesterday afternoon I went out for some lunch and a spot of charity shopping with my Mother, and I used my new camera to take some photos, which I’d like to share with you here.

This is Mum outside a bar that we stopped at for a cup of tea. We had a really interesting conversation about the demands the modern workplace puts on employees, and we enjoyed a great bit of people watching, commenting on the types of people who tend to drive the cars that were driving past.
I asked my Mum to take some pictures of me in return, and this is the one I like the most. Mainly it’s because my teeth and my hair look nice, but it’s also because the smile I have is genuine, because my Mum always makes me laugh and smile. I so enjoy spending time with her, it’s quite hard to put into words how grateful I am that she is my Mum.
I took this one as we were both perplexed as to why you’d name a shop Fatboys.
I took this one because, even if it is just a Post Office, I think it is a horrible shame that we don’t make beautiful buildings like this anymore.
The architecture in Matlock is absolutely stunning.
I took this one inside an antiques shop we looked around, because I love looking at pictures, prints, paintings et cetera, although it tends to make me sad that I don’t have my own home to buy them and put them in. I was particularly intrigued by the pencil drawing of a nude man (bottom right), and almost bought it, but decided not to in the end, as I don’t have enough wall space left in my bedroom to display it.
I took this one inside the same antiques shop, because I am vain.
I took this one because it is nice to see strangers enjoying each others company.
We went into Ladbrokes to do some cheeky gambling and one of the men in there had his dog with him. It was adorable.
This is my favourite picture from yesterday, and if I had to give it a name, I would call it ‘Leisure’. I love seeing people sitting on benches doing nothing, because the possibilities are endless. Are they waiting for someone or something, or are they just watching the time go by? I find it quite peaceful and relaxing to think about.

I also took the camera to Elia’s before we went to Nottingham for a night out. I considered taking the camera with me, but I was scared it would get lost or stolen, but perhaps I should next time.
