Chloe Deville

Hi everyone. Harry has let me write something this week for you all to have a gander at. Personally I’m surprised because he never likes to listen to my shite but here we are. I know we are all sick of hearing about the virus but with it being a key point in all our lives I thought I’d write about what I’ve been up to and how I’ve dealt with it all, so here goes.

At the start of lockdown, I loved it, I was treating it as an overly long bank holiday, drinking excessive amounts of carling and still somehow embarrassing myself on a daily basis. I managed to do the odd bits of marketing for my job and was enjoying working from home. Then my nan died. Cheerful thought for you all but it has probably been the biggest thing to happen in the last 8 weeks. That was probably the strangest part about this pandemic, watching a funeral via webcast felt uncomfortable and impersonal. I sat watching five members of my family have to sit 2m apart, not being able to console one another. I felt like I was in an episode of black mirror. That is what put the pandemic into perspective for me.

Next I was furloughed and the boredom kicked in. Even more drinking just for something to do and barely leaving my room. My mental health has seriously deteriorated being stuck in the house and not seeing anyone. I didn’t think it would affect me much as I used to dream of being at home with nothing to do (I’m a lazy bitch) but it really has. I miss walking to my friends houses or even just going on a walk with them, usually to the pub, I miss social interaction really. I haven’t been sleeping as I have nothing to wake up early for and I’ve been speaking to people from three years ago just to hear gossip in people’s lives. I know I’m whining about the smallest things in comparison to what is actually happening but I am finding it hard being on my own all the time. The lads from work facetime me everyday and it’s a nice part of my day that I look forward to. It’s the same conversation every time but it’s nice knowing we are all in the same boat and I’m not the only one feeling shitty.

Monday marked the start of week eight and I’m honestly still in shock. Eight weeks off work, eight weeks not seeing friends and family, eight weeks out of The Leopard and Assoc, yet I still have no fucking money. I was supposed to save whatever I got paid but that just isn’t happening as I’m spending it on more shite than I was before. Klarna is also being heavily abused because I have no self-control whatsoever. Oh, and I’ve been exploring in the last few days. Turns out there is a 300 ft bomb crater right down the road (if you call 13 miles right down the road) that’s pretty cool.

Well, I’m sure I’ve bored you all to death with how riveting my life is. Miss embarrassing myself in front of every single one of you and cannot wait to do it once lockdown is eventually over xx
